Your questions answered

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from households in Morwell and the Latrobe Valley. If your question is not here, ask us at your design consultation.

What happens at a design consultation?

We visit your home, measure the room, check the framing, floor, plumbing, drainage and ventilation, and talk through how you use the space. Afterwards we prepare a design and a written scope.

Is there any obligation after the consultation?

No. You can review the design and scope in your own time and decide whether to go ahead.

Which towns do you cover?

Morwell 3840, Traralgon, Churchill, Moe, Newborough, Hazelwood North, Hazelwood South, Boolarra, Yinnar, Tyers, Glengarry, Jeeralang Junction, Yallourn North and Toongabbie.

Are your trades licensed and insured?

Yes. Plumbing and electrical work is done by licensed trades, and our team is licensed and insured for the work we carry out.

What is AS 3740?

AS 3740 is the Australian Standard for waterproofing domestic wet areas. It sets out which areas must be waterproofed and how membranes, flashings and penetrations are detailed.

Do you waterproof every bathroom to AS 3740?

Yes. Every wet area we build is waterproofed to AS 3740, and we photograph the membrane before tiling.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

It depends on the size of the room, the scope and any structural repairs. We give you a clear timeline in the written scope before work starts.

Can I stay at home during the renovation?

Most people do. We contain dust, protect floors and plan the work to keep disruption short, especially when it is the only bathroom.

My home was built in the 1950s. What should I expect?

Older Morwell homes often have timber floors on stumps, fibre-cement linings and old galvanised pipes. We check all of these at the consultation and plan for them.

Do you deal with asbestos?

When asbestos is suspected, we arrange testing. If it is present, a licensed removalist removes it safely before our work begins.

Can I have a walk-in shower in a house on stumps?

Usually yes. Timber floors can often be reframed to create a level or near-level entry, with the whole floor waterproofed.

Can you remove a bath and put in a shower?

Yes. Shower conversions are one of our most requested services, and they suit many smaller bathrooms.

Can you fix a leaking shower without a full renovation?

Sometimes. We find the cause first. If the membrane has failed, rebuilding the shower is usually the reliable fix.

Do you renovate laundries?

Yes. We design and build laundries with durable benchtops, storage and a waterproofed floor.

Can you renovate a powder room or separate toilet?

Yes. Powder rooms are small projects that make a big impression.

Do you design accessible bathrooms?

Yes. We design level-entry showers, wider doorways, slip-resistant floors and grab rail blocking for people of all ages and abilities.

Can grab rails be added later?

Yes, if timber blocking is installed in the walls during the renovation. We recommend it even if rails are not needed yet.

What about tank water and septic systems?

We work on rural properties with tank water and septic systems, and we plan fixtures and drainage to suit them.

How do you stop mould coming back?

We install a ducted exhaust fan that vents outside, insulate walls and ceilings where possible and use moisture-resistant linings.

Can you install heated floors or towel rails?

Yes. Both add comfort through Latrobe Valley winters and help dry the room.

Can I choose my own tiles and tapware?

Yes. We check they suit the room and the waterproofing system, and we can also guide your selections.

Do you supply the fixtures?

We can supply fixtures and finishes or install items you have chosen. This is set out in the written scope.

Will I get a written scope?

Yes. Every project has a written scope and quotation that describes exactly what is included.

What happens if you find hidden damage?

We show you what we have found, explain the options and agree any changes in writing before continuing.

Do you work around shift workers?

Yes. Many valley households include shift workers, and we plan the noisiest work around sleep where possible.

Can you renovate an ensuite in a new home?

Yes. We often improve layout, storage, ventilation and finishes in recent homes.

Do you renovate rental properties?

Yes. We can recommend durable, easy-clean finishes suited to tenants.

What warranty do I receive?

You receive warranty documents for the work and products at handover, along with waterproofing photos and care instructions.
